Introduction
A data library in the SundaySky platform includes three components: a collection of data fields, a data connector, and a mapping configuration.
When creating a new data library, we recommend that you first add the data fields and then continue to attach a connector and map the data fields.
After the initial selection of the data connector and the mapping process, you can always switch the data connector and edit the mapping as required. When making any change to a data library—in regard to the data fields, connector, or mapping—always remember that any change will affect all the videos that have selected this data library. We recommend that you consider the implications carefully before making any change.
If this is the first time that you are setting up a data integration, we recommend that you read Video Personalization—How It Works and Managing the SundaySky Data Library.
Selecting a Data Connector
The connector is what enables the connection between the data fields that you have defined and the actual data sets that you hold. Put simply, the connector is what determines how data flows from your data source to your data library.
1. |
Open the relevant video in the Studio. |
2. |
Select Data in the sidebar. |
The data library selected for the video is displayed. Note that the icons in the Status column indicate that the data fields are neither mapped nor in use in the video. |
|
|
|
3. |
Click Select in the data source section. |
|
|
4. |
Hover over the data connector that you want to use and then click Select. |
|
|
5. |
Click Select at the bottom of the window to confirm your choice. |
The name of the selected data connector is displayed. |
|
|
|
6. |
Continue to mapping the data fields. |
Mapping the Data Fields
The mapping process specifies what field in your source data corresponds to the data field that you created in the data library. A precise mapping ensures that the right data is pulled from your data set to populate a personalized video.
1. |
Open the relevant video in the Studio. |

2. |
Select Data in the sidebar. |
||||||||||||
3. |
Make sure that you have selected a data connector for the data library. |
||||||||||||
4. |
Click Map Fields in the data source section. |
||||||||||||
|
|||||||||||||
In the mapping window, the names of the fields in your data source (in the example below, File Upload) are populated automatically according to the data field names that you defined. |

5. |
Review each pair and make sure that the data source field matches the field name in your data set. If it does not, edit it accordingly. |

Changing a Data Connector
Warning:
A data connector is a component of a data library. The same data library can be used in multiple videos. If you change the data connector, it affects all the videos using the same data library. We therefore recommend proceeding with caution.
When you change a data connector, the previous mapping is not saved. After selecting a different connector, you will need to review the mapping and make any needed edits.
1. |
Open the relevant video in the Studio. |
2. |
Select Data in the sidebar. |
3. |
In the data source section, click the three-dot menu and then select Change Source. |
|
|
4. |
Hover over the data connector that you want to change to and then click Select. |
|
|
5. |
Click Select at the bottom of the window to confirm your choice. |
6. |
If you are sure that you want to change the connector, click Change. |
|
|
7. |
Review the mapping and make any required edits to the source fields. |
Removing a Data Connector
Warning:
A data connector is a component of a data library. The same data library can be used in multiple videos. If you remove the data connector, it affects all the videos using the same data library. A data library without a data connector cannot be used for personalizing videos. We therefore recommend proceeding with caution.
1. |
Open the relevant video in the Studio. |
2. |
Select Data in the sidebar. |
3. |
In the data source section, click the three-dot menu and then select Disconnect. |
|
|
4. |
If you are sure that you want to proceed, click Disconnect. |
|
|
The data connector is disconnected and the mapping is removed. |
