Introduction to SundaySky Data Connectors

As the name suggests, a data connector is a process that transfers data from a source (for example, a data file) to the SundaySky Video Platform where it is used for personalizing videos for your viewers.

SundaySky comes with an ever-growing library of connectors, from which you can choose the one best suited for your needs. In this article you can read about the key features of each data connector.

Data Connector: File Upload

CSV files are manually uploaded to the SundaySky platform.

With this method, you can distribute the video using a landing page built with the SundaySky landing page builder or use your own page and play the video using the SundaySky player.

1.	When you have data that is available in CSV format.
2.	Your source data does not change frequently and is relevant for a relatively long period of time.
3.	When the communication or campaign is one-off or not frequent.

You can implement this data connector with minimal technical know-how.

Your data is removed from the SundaySky servers according to SundaySky's data retention policy.

Data Connector: URL Parameters

Data is passed to the SundaySky platform by adding information to the page URL or the video request, using query string parameters.

With this method, you can distribute the video using a landing page built with the SundaySky landing page builder or use your own page and play the video using the SundaySky player.

1.	When data is available in the page URL (for example, a dynamic link from an email management system).
2.	When data is available on the page on which the viewer is watching the video.

You will need intermediate technical know-how to implement this data connector.

Structured data is not saved on SundaySky servers but the page URLs are retained for reporting purposes.

Data Connector: SundaySky API

Data is sent directly from your system to the SundaySky API at the moment the viewer clicks play to watch the video. The SundaySky platform responds with a video response to be used for playing the video.

With this method, you can play the video in the SundaySky player.
However, you cannot distribute the video using a landing page built with the SundaySky landing page builder.

1.	When data is available on your backend system and requires system-to-system integration.
2.	If the viewer data you hold is sensitive.
3.	If real-time data accuracy is critical when watching the video.

You will need advanced technical know-how to implement this data connector.

Your data is never saved on SundaySky servers.

Data Connector: SFTP Transfer

Managed by SundaySky Professional Services (free of charge)

A file, containing your data records, is uploaded to SundaySky's SFTP server. From there, the data is processed by SundaySky and imported into a database where it is used for personalizing your video.
Alternatively, the file with the data records can be uploaded to a folder on your SFTP server, and then accessed by SundaySky.

An SFTP transfer is fully automated and can be scheduled to run at certain dates and times. This method does not require human intervention, eliminating the need to perform manual tasks.

With this method, you can distribute the video using a landing page built with the SundaySky landing page builder or use your own page and play the video using the SundaySky player.

1.	When the video can be generated with data that is updated periodically and not in real time.
2.	When your data is stored in a platform from which it can be easily extracted.
3.	When you have data that is available in a structured format (e.g. CSV, pipe delimited).
4.	When your source data changes frequently or you need to upload new records on an ongoing basis.

You will need intermediate technical know-how to implement this data connector. This implementation includes creating an automatic process that exports data from your source to the SundaySky SFTP server.

Technical stakeholders in your company will need to work together with SundaySky in order to set up the SFTP transfer.

Your data is removed from the SundaySky servers according to SundaySky's data retention policy.

Data Connector: Salesforce API

Managed by SundaySky Professional Services (free of charge)

Following a one-time integration process between SundaySky and your Salesforce account, individual data records are pulled directly from your CRM to personalize videos in real time (when the viewer clicks play to watch the video).

The data available for video personalization needs to be authorized by your Salesforce administrator.

With this method, you can distribute the video using a landing page built with the SundaySky landing page builder or use your own page and play the video using the SundaySky player.

1.	When data used for personalization is available in your Salesforce account.
2.	When data used for personalization always needs to be up to date.

A Salesforce administrator will need to work together with SundaySky Professional Services in order to implement this connector. This requires installing a managed app on your Salesforce instance.

Your data is never saved on SundaySky servers.

Data Connector: Custom Integration

Managed by SundaySky Professional Services (requires additional fee)

While there are a variety of connectors in the library, you may prefer a custom integration that is not available in the platform. For example, if you have access to an existing API for personalizing data, a custom integration can enable SundaySky to pull data from this API in real time. In this case and others, SundaySky offers a paid service to create a custom integration on your behalf, unique to your company's requirements.
A custom integration is managed entirely by SundaySky.
