Overview
Once you have finished creating your video, it's time to share it with your audience. Inside the SundaySky platform, the Studio is where you create the video while the Video Page is where you approve and share the finished result.
Even before you share the completed video with your viewers, you can send a draft version to a limited audience so that they can preview it and provide feedback. See the articles in the Collaboration & Review section to learn about the various options for doing so.
In addition to providing step-by-step instructions for sharing your video, this article also describes the terms and components that you will encounter while working in the Video Page.
Understanding Video Statuses
Before a video is shared with viewers, it passes through several statuses in its lifecycle. The diagram below illustrates the process:
Here's what each status means:
Draft | This indicates that the video has not yet been approved. At this stage, it can be sent for review via several options. |
Approved to Share | Once you decide a video is ready for sharing, clicking Approve locks in all the edits and moves the video to this status. |
Depending on the sharing option that was used, the video passes to one of the following statuses: | |
Shared | This status indicates that the video was shared via Facebook or LinkedIn or downloaded as an MP4 file. |
Live | When a video is shared via SundaySky Hosted video, the video is moved to Live after it has accumulated views. When the status is Live, analytics are generated from viewing data and are then available in dashboards and reports. Unlike the other statuses that are updated automatically, you need to move a video to this status manually. |
As depicted in the diagram above, there are cases in which the status of a video moves from Shared to Live. This occurs when a video was downloaded or shared via Facebook or LinkedIn and then shared via SundaySky Hosted Video.
Alternatively, if a video was shared via SundaySky Hosted Video and then downloaded or shared via Facebook or LinkedIn, the status remains Live. The Live status always supersedes any other status.
On the Video Page, the current status of the video is displayed on the left side of the page, just beneath the video name.
Sharing Options
The SundaySky platform includes a variety of options for sharing a video, divided into two groups: SundaySky Hosted Video and additional sharing options (Facebook, LinkedIn, Download). You'll see these options in the Share tab of the Video Page.
To help you decide which option to you, following are descriptions of each group:
SundaySky Hosted Video
The two options in this group—landing page and embed video—enable sharing your video using the SundaySky player. The player can be embedded in a SundaySky landing page or in a page that you manage on your own. Both options support all the data connectors in the SundaySky marketplace. The main features of a hosted video include:
- Videos are generated in real time, meaning that the video shown to the viewer is created (with up-to-date data) when the viewer clicks the play button.
- If the video content or data is updated, there is no need to reshare the video. After approving the new version, the video is updated automatically.
- CTA buttons can be included in a video and are clickable.
- In the SundaySky player, control bar features include chaptering, closed captioning, and functionality to display a video transcript.
- Video viewing data is extracted to the SundaySky platform and is available in dashboards and reports.
- The landing page and embed video options can be used for both personalized and non-personalized videos.
Facebook / LinkedIn / Download
The options in this group enable sharing your video on the popular social media platforms, Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as downloading the video as an MP4 file. The main features include:
- Seamless integration between the SundaySky platform and social media platforms.
- Videos are posted directly to Facebook and LinkedIn.
- MP4 files are downloaded without a watermark.
- MP4 files can be downloaded with or without closed captions.
- If the video content is updated, the video needs to be reshared in order for viewers to see the updated content.

Updating the Video Status to Live
After you share a video via a landing page or by embedding a code snippet in a webpage, the video status is updated to Approved to share.
As soon as your audience begins watching the video, the viewing data is extracted to SundaySky so that it can be processed, analyzed, and then be made available via dashboards and reports. You will know that a video has begun accumulating views when a blue banner is displayed at the top of the Video Page, prompting you to update the video status to Live.
After the video status is updated to Live, analytics—via dashboards and reports—are available in the Analyze tab.
