About this article:
This article provides detailed guidance for step 8 of the template creation process: Set Sharing Methods for Your Template.
Overview
As an Editor, when you create a template for Amplify, you define more than just the input fields that Contributors will complete for their recipients. You also determine how the finished video can be shared. Sharing options include:
- Sending the video via email
- Generating a video link, which can take one of two forms: a link to a SundaySky landing page created using the Landing Page Builder, or a link to a website developed by your organization, with the SundaySky video embedded.
- Downloading the video as an MP4 file
After the Contributor completes the Input Form, only the sharing methods you allow for the template are displayed, enabling Contributors to choose the option that best meets their needs (see example below). Each template you create needs to include at least one sharing method.
This article provides step-by-step instructions for defining each sharing method:
Email Template
About this method:
Enable this sharing method when you want to create an email template that Contributors can use to send a pre-written message with a video link to their recipients. As an Editor, you configure three elements of the template:
- The email subject line
- The email body text
- The presentation method for the video (see below)
After the video is created in Amplify, the Contributor simply copies the subject and body into their email client and sends the message.
When using this method, you can choose one of the following presentation methods for the shared video:
- Video player — the video opens on a blank webpage and plays directly in the SundaySky video player.
- SundaySky landing page — the video plays within a landing page created using SundaySky tools.
- Embedded video — the video is embedded in a webpage created by your organization.
The following logic applies to the video presentation:
- If the video isn't embedded in a webpage or hosted on a SundaySky landing page, it will be displayed on a blank white webpage.
- If a SundaySky landing page has been created or the video has been embedded on a website, selecting either option overrides the "Player only" option, which will no longer be available.
- See Email Template — Notes for more details and advanced options you may find useful.
This method supports tracking viewer engagement on the Video Activity page and is fully compatible with templates that include CTA buttons.
| 1. | Access the Template Page. |
| The Sharing Methods section appears in the lower-right corner of the page. | |
| 2. | By Email template, click Set up. |
| After clicking Set up, the Email Template Builder opens. | |
| You can edit any of the elements highlighted below in the Email Template Builder. If you don't want to make changes, you can skip to step 4. | |
| 3. | Select the element you want to edit (Email subject, Email body, Button text, or Email closure) and make your changes. ▶ For Email body, Button text, or Email closure, you can click the element to access formatting options such as text styling and alignment. ▶ As you make changes, they are immediately reflected in the Builder preview. |
| 4. | (Optional) To include a link to your company's privacy policy, click Privacy policy in the right sidebar, toggle the option on, and enter the URL. This adds a link beneath the video player, which opens the privacy policy in a new tab when clicked. |
| 5. | In the Video Link options field, select how you want the video to be presented. ▶ If no other options have been set up, Player only is selected by default. ▶ To choose a different option, open the drop-down menu and select Embed on your website or SundaySky Landing Page. See Email Template — Notes for guidelines on setting these up. |
| 6. | When you have finished configuring the email template, click Set up email template in the upper-right corner. |
| The Template Page displays with the Email template sharing option now enabled. | |
| 7. | Move on to Step 9: Publish the Template to Amplify. |
| Below is how the sharing interface appears to Contributors in Amplify when you've enabled Email template for your template. The Email template option will be available alongside any other sharing methods you've configured. ▶ For more information on how Contributors use this sharing method in Amplify, see Sharing a Video via Email Template. |

Email Template — Notes
| 1. | If both embed code and SundaySky landing page are set up, the option enabled as an independent sharing method is automatically selected for the email template. If neither is enabled, Embed on your website is selected by default, but you can change this if needed. |
| 2. | If you want to use the embed code or landing page option but have not set them up yet, you can do so directly in the Email Template Builder. In the Video Link options field, open the drop-down menu and click Set up next to the relevant option. See Video Link — SundaySky Landing Page and Video Link — Embed Code for step-by-step setup guidelines. |
| 3. | Setting up a SundaySky Landing Page or Embed on your website option from within the Email Template Builder does two things. It creates the video link that will be sent with the email and also makes the option available as an independent sharing method. For example, if you configure the SundaySky landing page to be available within the email template, it's automatically toggled on as an independent sharing method as well. In the example below, the options in Create (left) correspond to those in Amplify (right). SundaySky Landing Page, shown on the left, corresponds to Video Link on the right, while Email template on the left corresponds to Email template on the right. The SundaySky Landing Page option can, of course, be turned off if it's not needed. |
| 4. | After setting up the email template, you can use the Edit option to make changes. As with any updates, you'll need to re-publish the template for the changes to take effect. |
| 5. | To preview the email template visually, click Copy to email provider and paste the contents into your email application. This option copies only the text and a static image of the video. Nothing is operational. |
| 6. | In the Email Template Builder, the button text provides a fallback link. If the video image does not display, recipients can click the button text to watch the video. |
Downloadable MP4
About this method:
Use this sharing method when you want recipients to download the personalized video created for them by Contributors. This method does not support tracking viewer engagement on the Video Activity page and is not available for templates that include CTA buttons. Because of these limitations, we recommend allowing this method only when downloading is essential, and providing a tracking-enabled option (email or video link) whenever possible.
| 1. | Access the Template Page. |
| The Sharing Methods section appears in the lower-right corner of the page. | |
| 2. | Toggle on Downloadable MP4. ▶ This option will be disabled and grayed out if there are buttons in the video. Video downloads (.mp4 files) don't support clickable buttons. If your video includes buttons, you'll need to remove them before you can enable downloads. |
| 3. | Move on to Step 9: Publish the Template to Amplify. |
| Below is how the sharing interface appears to Contributors in Amplify when you've enabled Downloadable MP4 for your template. The Download option will be available alongside any other sharing methods you've configured. ▶ For more information on how Contributors use this sharing method in Amplify, see Sharing a Video via MP4 Download. |

Video Link — Embed Code
About this method:
The embed code option lets you generate a code snippet that can be added to any webpage you've created to serve as your video landing page. When used, the personalized video plays directly on the page where it's embedded, appearing as a natural part of the webpage. This approach allows easy sharing via a video link and provides tracking of viewer engagement on the Video Activity page.
| 1. | Access the Template Page. |
| The Sharing Methods section appears in the lower-right corner of the page. | |
| 2. | By Embed on your website, click Set up. |
| Before beginning setup, a dialog displays the three-step embed process. | |
| 3. | Review the steps and then click Got it to continue. |
| 4. | Create the embed code using the Embed Code Builder. See Generating the Embed Code for detailed instructions. |
| 5. | When you have finished customizing the embed code, click Generate code in the lower-right corner. |
| 6. | Enter the URL of the webpage where you will place the embed code. ▶ The protocol http:// or https:// must be included in the URL for the link to be valid. |
| 7. | Select the embed method that you want to use. ▶ By default, iframe is selected. |
| 8. | Click Copy code. |
| 9. | On the webpage you specified in step 6, paste the embed code snippet into the page code where you want the video player to appear. |
| 10. | Click Save video link at the bottom of the dialog window. |
| The Template Page displays with Embed on your website now enabled. | |
| 11. | Visit the webpage where the code snippet is embedded. Confirm that the video player is positioned correctly and that the video plays without issues. Keep in mind that the video you see is not yet personalized. It will only be personalized once Contributors create and send it to their recipients. |
| 12. | (Optional) If you encounter any issues while previewing the webpage, click the three dots next to Embed on your website and then use the following options to make adjustments: Edit player configuration to access the Embed Code Builder and make edits to the video player design. Edit embed settings to modify the website URL. |
| 13. | After finalizing the video player design, move on to Step 9: Publish the Template to Amplify. |
| Below is how the sharing interface appears to Contributors in Amplify when you've enabled Embed on your website for your template. The Video Link option will be available alongside any other sharing methods you've configured. The video link sent to the recipient will open the video player on the page you defined during setup. ▶ For more information on how Contributors use this sharing method in Amplify, see Sharing a Video via Video Link. |

Video Link — Notes
| 1. | After you publish the template, you can still edit the landing page or use the editing options on the Template Page. As with any changes to the template or its sharing method, you'll need to re-publish the template after making edits. |
| 2. | If you attempt to enable a second video link sharing method (after enabling the first), a message displays asking you to choose one. Since only one video link method can be active at a time, you'll need to select your preferred option. |
