Overview

You can convert an eligible image into an AI-generated video by adding motion to the image. This allows you to start with an existing image and describe how it should move, instead of generating a video from scratch.

For example, you can animate clouds in the background, add subtle camera movement, or make a logo move gently on screen.

Converting an Image to a Video

  1. Open an eligible image from the media library or from the AI media generation flow.
  2. Click Convert image to video.
  3. In the motion prompt, describe the movement you want to create.
  4. Click Generate.

The image is used as the starting point for the video, and the motion prompt defines how the video should animate.

Writing the Motion Prompt

Use the motion prompt to describe the movement you want to see in the generated video.

Examples:

  • Clouds moving from left to right.
  • The camera slowly zooms in.
  • The logo gently floats.
  • The background moves subtly.

Clear and specific prompts usually produce better results.

Where the Video is Saved

When an image is converted from the media library, the generated video is saved alongside the original image in the library.

Credit Usage

Converting an image to a video uses the same credit cost as regular AI video generation. If an error occurs and the video is not generated, credits are not charged.

Permissions

Image-to-video conversion is controlled by the AI video conversion of uploaded images permission. If this permission is turned off, the option to convert an uploaded image to a video is disabled.

Limitations

  • Getty assets cannot be converted to video due to licensing restrictions.
  • If a Getty asset is used as part of another asset, video conversion may also be blocked.
  • Transparent backgrounds appear white in the generated video.
  • The conversion option is disabled in contexts that only support image selection, such as poster or landing page image selectors.
