Overview

When you create a video, the voice that you select for narration is the default voice for all the scenes.

Once an avatar is added to a video, the following occurs:

  1. The avatar's voice is used to narrate the scene to which it was added, overriding the AI voice selected.
  2. You can now choose to have the avatar's voice narrate the other scenes in the video, replacing the AI voice that was originally selected for the video.

This article describes how avatar and AI voices interact, depending on how they're used.

Avatar Voice Scenarios

1. Scenario: An avatar is added to an existing scene.
Voice Behavior: The scene must be narrated by the avatar's voice. To select a different voice for the scene, you will first need to delete the avatar from the scene.

In addition, the voice of the avatar can now be selected as the voice for any other scene in the video.
Clicking the arrow by the microphone icon displays the available voices that can be selected for the scene.
In the example below, Helen is the AI voice selected for the video and Celine is an avatar used in another scene.

2. Scenario: More than one avatar is added to a video.
Voice Behavior: The scenes with avatars will use the voice of the avatar used in each respective scene. In scenes without avatars, you can use either the AI voice selected for the video or the voice of any avatar used in the video.
Clicking the arrow by the microphone icon displays the available voices that can be selected for the current scene.
In the example below, Helen is the AI voice selected for the video while Celine and Nathan are avatars used in other scenes.

3. Scenario: An avatar (static or animated) is removed from a scene.
Voice Behavior: The behavior depends on the number of occurrences of the same avatar in the video.

Single Occurrence Multiple Occurrences
a. After removing the avatar, the voice in the current scene reverts to the AI voice selected for the video.
b. All other scenes using this avatar's voice revert to the AI voice selected for the video.
c. Example:
The avatar Celine is currently being used in Scene #1 while only her voice is being used in Scene #7 and Scene #8.
The avatar Celine is removed from Scene #1.
Scene #1, Scene #7, and Scene #8 all revert to the AI voice. Celine's voice can no longer be used.

4. Scenario: An avatar (static or animated) is replaced in a scene.
Voice Behavior: The behavior depends on the number of occurrences of the same avatar in the video.

Single Occurrence Multiple Occurrences
a. After selecting a new avatar, the voice in the current scene is replaced with that of the new avatar.
b. In all other scenes using the avatar's voice, the voice of the original avatar is replaced with the voice of the new avatar.
c. For example:
The avatar Anna is currently being used in Scene #1 and her voice is also being used in Scene #4 and Scene #7.
The avatar Anna is replaced with the avatar Calvin.
Scene #4 and Scene #7 now use Calvin's voice.
