Creating a Video Draft with AI

Overview

SundaySky includes an AI-powered capability that helps you quickly generate a video draft. This feature allows you to jump-start the video creation process by either writing a prompt or uploading a document, from which an AI-generated video brief is created.

The video brief serves as the foundation for your video. After reviewing and refining the brief as needed, you generate the first draft of the video.

The goal of creating a video draft with AI is not to produce a finished video, but to give you a strong starting point. The AI generates an initial structure — including scenes, suggested narration, and media assets — that you can then review, edit, and refine to match your messaging goals.

By automating the first draft, this feature significantly reduces the time and effort required to create a video from scratch, enabling you to focus on fine-tuning content and delivering a polished final result more efficiently.

AI Usage Credits for Video Drafting

Using the AI video drafting feature requires AI usage credits. Your available credit balance is displayed when you begin the video drafting process, as shown below.

AI usage credits for video drafting are calculated based on the total length of the video draft that is generated.
For every 30 seconds of video length, 260 AI usage credits are consumed.

Credits are consumed when you click the button to create the video draft. Once consumed, credits cannot be returned — even if you cancel the process midway.

Starting the Video Drafting Process

1. Log in to SundaySky Create.
2. In the Video Library, click Create in the left sidebar.
3. Choose how you want to create your video draft:
▶ To draft a video by writing your own prompt, click Write a prompt.
▶ To draft a video using an existing file, click Upload a document.
4. Continue with the relevant steps, as detailed in the following sections:
Creating a Video Draft by Writing a Prompt
Creating a Video Draft by Uploading a Document

Creating a Video Draft by Writing a Prompt

You can create a video draft by writing a detailed prompt that describes what you want the video to include. Be as specific as possible. For example, mention the types of images or visuals to include, the overall tone of the video, and any key messages you want to convey. The more detail you provide, the more accurately the AI can generate a video brief that matches your vision.

1. Enter your prompt in the text area.

2. Click Generate video brief for review.

3. Continue to Reviewing and Refining the Video Brief.

Creating a Video Draft by Uploading a Document

You can create a video draft by uploading a document containing your source content. Supported file types include .txt, .pdf, and .docx.

Only textual content from the document is used to generate the video draft. Any images in the file will not be incorporated. If your document contains important information in images, this method may not be the best choice, as the AI cannot extract or interpret visual content.

1. In your directory, select the file you want to use, and then click Open.

Reviewing and Refining the Video Brief

After you upload a document or write a prompt, SundaySky generates a video brief. The video brief defines the structure, tone, and settings for your video draft.

The video brief page is not sequential, and there are no required steps. You can review and adjust any field in any order. Providing more detail in the video brief helps ensure the generated video draft is as close as possible to what you want. Alternatively, you can proceed without making any changes and create the video draft using the default AI-generated brief.

The video brief is divided into two main areas: editable fields on the left, where you can refine the content and intent of the video, and configuration options on the right, where you can control the video's appearance.

Video Brief Fields

Goal
Describes the primary purpose of the video. This information helps guide the structure and messaging of the video draft. You can edit the AI-generated text or clear the field and enter your own content.

Video length
Defines the approximate length of the generated video. By default, the Best fit option is selected. If you started the process by writing a prompt and specified a desired length, that length is selected here.

Tone
Specifies the overall feel of the video, such as uplifting, friendly, or welcoming. The tone attributes that appear by default are those the AI determined best match your prompt or uploaded document. You can add or remove attributes to shape the style of the narration and visuals.

Target audience
Indicates who the video is intended for, such as new employees or internal team members. You can use the AI-generated suggestions or add your own.

Call to action (Available under Advanced creative guidance and CTA options)
Describes what viewers should do after watching the video. If you started the process by writing a prompt and included an explicit call to action (for example, Visit our website to learn more), it is entered here automatically.

Creative guidance (Available under Advanced creative guidance and CTA options)
Specifies creative considerations to include in the video, such as visual style, imagery, and overall atmosphere. This field is useful when you want to provide additional direction beyond the basic brief.
For example: "Include images of modern, high-tech office spaces, collaborative work areas, and employees interacting in a positive, energetic environment."
If you started the process by writing a prompt and included creative guidance, it is entered here automatically.

Configuration Options

On the right side of the page, you can use the drop-down lists to change the brand, theme, and aspect ratio.
Any changes you make are reflected immediately on the page.

Keep in mind that after the video draft is created, you can continue to edit all elements in the Studio. At this stage, the video draft is not a final product.

Generating the Video Draft

After you've finished refining the video brief, you're ready to generate the video draft. Before doing so, note the following details on the page:

  • Available AI usage credits
The number of AI usage credits currently available in your account is displayed at the top of the page.

  • Estimated credit consumption
This value shows the estimated number of AI usage credits that will be consumed when you create the video draft. The estimate is calculated based on the selected video length.
In the example below, because the video length is set to Short, 260 credits will be consumed. The estimate is always the maximum number of credits that will be deducted. Credits are deducted when you click Create video draft, as described earlier.

To generate the video draft, click Create video draft in the lower-right corner.

After processing is complete, the video draft is displayed, and your updated AI usage credit balance appears in the upper-right corner of the page.

On the left side of the page, you'll see the video brief, including the scene topics that make up the video. On the right side, you can view the individual scenes and preview the video.

From this page, you can perform the following actions:

  • Preview the video
Click the play button on the right side of the page to preview the video. You can also scroll through the scenes beneath the preview window. For each scene, the scene title and narration are displayed. Clicking a scene displays it in the preview window above.

  • Configure video properties
Use the drop-down lists below the preview window to change the brand, theme, aspect ratio, or AI voice. Any changes you make are reflected automatically in the video draft. If you choose to continue editing the video in the Studio, you'll have access to the full set of features and functionality available in SundaySky Create.

  • Share the video draft
You can share the video draft you generated by clicking the arrow in the bottom-left corner of the page.
    Share_video_draft.png
From the menu that opens, select one of the following options:
    Export a script
    Download a draft
Download a draft + closed captions

  • Save the video draft without editing in the Studio
To save the video draft without editing it, click the X in the upper-right corner. In the message that appears, click Got it.

    Draft_saved.png

The video draft is saved in your AI Video Drafts folder. You can access it there at any time and open it in the Studio to begin editing.

  • Edit the video in the Studio
Click Edit in Studio in the bottom-left corner of the page. The video draft will open in the Studio, where you can make edits and then share the finished video with your audience.
