Note:
This feature, along with others that increase your creative flexibility, is only available for a video using the Optimized Scene Library. See Optimized Scene Library—FAQ to learn more about the benefits and how to upgrade. You will know that you have not yet upgraded to the Optimized Scene Library if you see the following banner when you open the video in the Studio:
Overview
Each scene in a video has a background. Generally speaking, the background is any area in the scene that does not include a placeholder or design element. The primary color defined in the brand is the color that is used for the background (see example below).
For more creative versatility and to ensure brand adherence, you can apply a custom background of your own and replace the default solid background. Here are the key points to know about using a custom background:
- A custom background can be added using any image or video asset from your media library.
- A custom background is applied to all the scenes in the video.
- When using a media asset for the custom background that is shorter than the video itself, the media automatically loops until the end of the video itself.
- The audio in a media asset used for a custom background is muted automatically and cannot be unmuted.
-
Currently, a custom background can only be applied when using the following themes: Elements, Waves, Minimal, Limbo.
- The assets used as a custom background need to meet these media specifications.
Applying a Custom Background
1. | Open the relevant video in the Studio. |
2. | Select Theme in the sidebar and then check that you are using one of the compatible themes. |
3. | Turn on the Custom background toggle. |
4. | Add the custom background using either of the following options: |
Select a media asset from Your Media or Stock and then click Use. See Managing the Media Library to learn more. Click browse and then select the media asset that you want to use. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop the file into the bordered rectangle. |
|
The custom background is added to the entire video. ▶ In Scene 2 in the example below, a single media placeholder covers the entire scene. Although the custom background cannot be seen, it exists behind the image. Alternatively, when the image has a transparent background, the custom background can be seen. |
|
Tip! After adding the custom background, you may need to change the text color or the color combination of the layout to create a contrast. |
Removing a Custom Background
Note:
Instead of removing the custom background permanently, you can also turn off the Custom background toggle. By doing so, the custom background you selected continues to be saved and can be applied again in the future by turning the toggle back on.
1. | Open the relevant video in the Studio. |
2. | Select Theme in the sidebar. |
3. | On the custom background thumbnail, click the Actions menu. |
4. | Select Remove. |
The custom background is removed. |
