Overview
The SundaySky platform includes a wide variety of tools for editing a media asset. After editing an asset, you can use the Save as option to create a new media asset that contains the changes you've made. The new media asset is saved in the Media Library and can be used by all users of your account.
The guidelines in this article apply to both images and video footage.
Using Save As to Create a New Media Asset
1. | Select the media asset that you want to edit. |
2. | On the toolbar, click the Edit media icon. |
3. | Click the Edit icon. |
The media asset is opened in the Asset Editor. ▶ The tools available in the Asset Editor vary depending on whether you are editing an image or video footage. |
|
4. | Edit the media asset as required. ▶ In the example below, the image is being cropped. |
5. | After completing all the edits, click the arrow next to the Apply button and then select Apply and save as. |
6. | Enter a name for the edited media asset. ▶ Note that, by default, the new media asset is saved in the same location as the original. In the Media Library, you can move the asset to a different location. |
7. | Click Save. |
The placeholder is updated with the edited media asset.
8. | Click anywhere outside the Media dialog window to close the window. |
In the Media Library, you'll find the original media asset, together with the new asset containing the changes. The new asset can now be used in other videos and by all members of your team.
Notes
1. | After editing a media asset, if you reopen it in the Asset Editor and select the tool used, the original version will be displayed, allowing you to make new edits. ▶ This is demonstrated below using the cropping tool and applies to all the editing tools. |
2. |
Save as can also be accessed from the Options menu in the Media dialog window. You can use Save as from this location to perform the following actions: a. Duplicate the media asset that is in the placeholder. b. If edits were previously made to the asset (before the Save As feature was released in March 2025), the media asset can now be saved with a new name and added to the Media Library. |
3. | The Save as feature is not available for media assets that are part of an original Story Template, but can be used with media assets that you add to the video. |
