Overview
With the Media Editor, you can edit both static images and video assets directly in SundaySky. Whether you're making quick adjustments or performing detailed edits, the Media Editor provides powerful tools to help you create polished, professional visuals. Acting as a one-stop shop for your editing needs, it replaces a range of third-party tools and resources, reducing both time and friction.
Any edits you make to a media asset in the Media Editor can only be changed there. If you want to update an asset you've already edited in the Media Editor, you must open it again in the Media Editor. Only there can the edits be modified.
In the Help Center, you'll find step-by-step articles that walk you through specific media actions, such as adding shapes, inserting text, or combining multiple video assets. This article, however, focuses on the general functions of the Media Editor, the core actions you'll use no matter what types of edits you're making.
In this article, you'll learn how to:
- Access the Media Editor
- Save changes
- Discard changes
- Undo/redo recent actions
- Use pane-specific actions
- Remove specific edits
Accessing the Media Editor
| 1. | In the scene, select the relevant media asset. |
| 2. | On the toolbar, click the Edit media icon. |
| 3. | In the Media dialog window, click Edit. |
| The media asset is opened in the Media Editor. | |
Saving Changes
After editing a media asset, you need to save your changes in order to incorporate them into the asset.
Saving applies all the edits that you made during the current editing session.
| 1. | In the Media Editor, click Apply in the upper-right corner. |
| In the Studio, the placeholder is updated with the edited media asset. | |
| 2. | Click anywhere outside the Media dialog window to close the window. |
| The scene is updated with the edited media asset. | |
Discarding Changes
To discard any edits you've made, click Cancel. This closes the Media Editor without saving your changes and returns you to the Studio.
Once you click Cancel, all edits from the current session are lost and cannot be recovered.
Undoing/Redoing an Action
If you make a change you want to reverse, click Undo to cancel the most recent action in the current editing session. You can click Undo multiple times to step back through earlier actions.
If you undo an action by mistake, click Redo to restore the most recently undone change.
Note that Undo and Redo affect only the edits made during your current session.
Pane Actions
When you select certain options from the toolbar, a pane opens on the left side of the Media Editor. This pane contains the option's settings, allowing you to adjust how it affects the media asset you're editing.
In the example below, the Filter option has been used. When an option is active and configured, a blue line appears beneath its icon in the toolbar, indicating that changes have been made.
Following are the actions that can be used in the pane:
| a. | Clear: Clicking Clear discards any edits that were made in the pane. |
| b. |
Enable/Disable: Clicking the eye icon enables/disables the option. ▶ Some options are disabled by default and need to be intentionally enabled. ▶ This action can also disable a configured option, preserving your settings so you can re-enable it later. |
| c. | Close: Clicking the X closes the pane. |
Removing an Edit
The Media Editor offers two ways to undo changes: the Undo option reverses your most recent actions one step at a time, while removing edits (indicated by blue marks under option icons) clears all changes made with a specific option all at once. You may want to remove edits to start over with different settings for a particular option or quickly revert all changes from one editing session.
You can remove edits before saving your work or after saving and returning to the Media Editor later.
| 1. | Locate the edit that you want to remove. ▶ You can identify if an edit was made by the blue line beneath the option's icon. |
| 2. | Select the option on the toolbar. |
| 3. | Click Clear in the pane. |
| The edit is removed. | |
