Overview
Once you've finished creating your video, it's time to prepare it for sharing. In the SundaySky platform, the Studio is where you build your video while the Video Page is where you approve and share the current version.
Before sharing the completed video with your viewers, you can send a draft version to a limited audience for previewing and feedback. For more details on how to do this, see the articles in the Collaboration & Review section.
This article provides step-by-step instructions for approving and sharing your video, as well as explanations of the terms, actions, and statuses you'll encounter on the Video Page.
Sharing Options
The SundaySky platform offers several options for sharing a video, divided into two groups: SundaySky Hosted Video and Additional Sharing Options (Facebook, LinkedIn, Download). You can access these options in the Share tab of the Video Page.
To help you choose the most suitable option, the following sections describe each group in more detail.
SundaySky Hosted Video
The two options in this group—Landing Page and Embed Video—allow you to share your video using the SundaySky player. The player can be embedded in a SundaySky landing page or in a page that you manage independently. Both options support all data connectors available in the SundaySky marketplace.
Key features:
- Videos are generated in real time, meaning the version shown to each viewer is created with the most up-to-date data when they click play.
- If the video content or data is updated, there's no need to reshare the video. After re-approving the new version, the video is updated automatically.
- Buttons included in the video remain clickable.
- The SundaySky player includes control bar features such as chaptering, closed captions, and a transcript display option.
- Video viewing data is collected within the SundaySky platform and available through dashboards and reports.
- Both Landing Page and Embed Video options can be used for personalized or non-personalized videos.
Facebook / LinkedIn / Download
The options in this group let you share your video on popular social platforms—Facebook and LinkedIn—or download it as an MP4 file.
Key features:
- Seamless integration between the SundaySky platform and social media platforms.
- Videos can be posted directly to Facebook and LinkedIn.
- MP4 files are downloaded without a watermark.
- MP4 files can be downloaded with or without closed captions.
- Buttons in scenes are not clickable, so it's best not to include them when sharing on social media or downloading as MP4.
- If the video content is updated, the video must be reshared for viewers to see the latest version.
Approving a Video
Before you can share your video, it must first be approved. Approving a video locks in all the edits made so far, so the version you share reflects the current version in the Studio. Once approved, the video's status updates accordingly, and sharing options become available.
| 1. | Open the video in the Video Page. |
| 2. | Make sure that the Edit tab is selected on the left side of the page. |
| 3. | Note the following details: a. Video status: Shows the current status of the video (Draft). b. Last edited: Displays the date and time the video was last modified. Hovering over the user avatar shows who made the last edit. c. Data connector and library: Displays the selected connector and data library if the video includes personalization. |
| 4. | Click Approve. |
| After clicking Approve, a confirmation window is displayed. The message differs depending on whether your video includes personalization and explains what your next step should be. | |
| 5. | After noting the next step, click Approve. |
| A message appears, indicating that the approval process is in progress. | |
| After approval, the Video Page advances to the Share tab, and the following details are displayed: a. Video status: Now shows Approved for sharing. b. Approval details: Displays the date and time of approval, along with a note indicating that the video has not yet been shared. |
|
| 6. | Proceed to share your video. |
Sharing a Video
Sharing your video is the ultimate goal of the creation process as this is when your message reaches your audience.
As outlined in the Sharing Options section above, the SundaySky platform offers several ways to share a video. Each sharing method has its own steps, which vary according to:
- Whether the video includes personalization
- How you plan to deliver the video
- The data connector used, if the video is personalized
Use the table below to explore the available sharing methods and access detailed instructions for each.
Re-approving a Video
A video must be re-approved after any edits are made. Just like the initial approval, each new edit must be approved before it's finalized and locked in. On the Edit tab, pending changes are indicated in one of two ways, as shown in the screenshot below:
| a. | The refresh icon on the left side of the screen indicates that edits have been made to the video and require approval. |
| b. | The refresh icon on the right side of the screen, in the Account Libraries section, indicates that one or more account-level libraries associated with the video have been updated. In the SundaySky platform, there are currently three libraries of this type: Brand, Data library, and Word pronunciation. Before re-approving the video, review each update carefully to make sure that it will not negatively impact the video. Once the video is re-approved, these library updates will be updated automatically. For example, in the screenshot below, an update was made to the Brand library. Re-approving the video ensures that the latest brand changes are reflected in this video. |
To re-approve a video:
| 1. | After making your edits, open the video in the Video Page. ▶ As mentioned above, the edit may have been made by another user in your account to one of the account-level libraries, rather than to the video itself. |
| 2. | On the Edit tab, click Re-approve. |
| 3. | Click Approve. ▶ Note the message indicating that the current version will replace the previous version of the video. |
| The video is now marked as Approved. | |
| 4. | Reshare the video if it was shared via Facebook, LinkedIn, or download. ▶ If the video was previously shared through a SundaySky landing page or by using the embed code, resharing is not necessary. |
Understanding Video Statuses
The status of a video in SundaySky indicates where it is in the lifecycle, from creation to distribution. Video statuses update automatically based on actions you take, such as sharing the video via a landing page or downloading the video. Understanding these statuses helps you track progress and make sure videos are shared as intended.
You can view a video's status in two locations:
All videos start in Draft status. After a video is moved to Approved for Sharing, it follows different paths depending on how you choose to share it, as shown in the diagram below.
Below are detailed explanations of each sharing path:
| Flow 1: SundaySky Hosted Video |
|
Draft > Approved for Sharing > Live
|
| Flow 2: MP4 Download |
|
Draft > Approved for Sharing > Downloaded/Downloaded for Review/Downloaded for Sharing > Shared/Live (Optional)
|
| Flow 3: Facebook / LinkedIn |
|
Draft > Approved for Sharing > Shared > Live (Optional)
|
Updating the Video Status to Live
After you share a video via a landing page or by embedding a code snippet in a webpage, the video status is updated to Approved for sharing.
As soon as your audience begins watching the video, the viewing data is extracted to SundaySky so that it can be processed, analyzed, and then be made available via dashboards and reports.
You will know that a video has started to accumulate views when you see the following message—in either the Edit or Analyze tab. The message will prompt you to update the video status to Live.
After the video status is updated to Live, analytics—via dashboards and reports—are available in the Analyze tab.
