Overview

After adding a media asset to a placeholder, you can control how it displays using the Scale to functionality. The examples below illustrate the difference between the two scaling options.

In the example above, Scale media to fill crops part of the image to fill the entire placeholder, while Scale media to fit displays the entire image with empty space along the sides.

Scale media to fill maintains the asset's aspect ratio while filling the entire placeholder. The asset is resized until it completely covers the placeholder, which may result in parts of the asset being cropped. This is the default setting and works well when you want seamless, edge-to-edge coverage without empty space.

Scale media to fit maintains the asset's aspect ratio while ensuring the entire media asset is visible within the placeholder. The asset is scaled to fit within the placeholder boundaries, which may leave empty space around the sides. Use this option when it's important to display all details of the media asset without any cropping.

Applying a Scaling Option to a Media Asset

1. Select the placeholder that contains the media asset.

Notes

1. If you want to use Scale media to fill but part of the asset is cut off, consider selecting a different layout with a placeholder that better accommodates the asset.
In the example below, the layout used in the Overview example above was changed to a different layout, allowing the entire image to be displayed.

2. When using Scale media to fill, you can adjust the asset positioning with the Align functionality to ensure the most important content remains visible within the placeholder.
