Important Notes:

1. The buttons you configure are clickable only if the video is played in the SundaySky player.

2. Currently, buttons can only be configured in videos created for owned media. In the future, it will also be possible to configure buttons in videos created for paid media.

What is a Button?

A button is an interactive component in a scene that, when clicked, opens a URL in a new browser tab.

In the example below, clicking Open a New Loan will direct viewers to a landing page with details on how to open a new loan.

In the Scene Template library, you can identify the scenes that include a button by their thumbnail and description (see example below):

The button itself is composed of three elements:

1.

Button shape. The button shape and color are defined in the brand configuration.

2.

Button text. As with "regular text", you can:
a. Display the same button text to all viewers.
b. Use 1:1 Personalization to personalize the button text for each viewer.
c. Use Audience Messaging to display unique button texts to different audiences.

The color of the button text is defined in the brand colors and the text style is defined in the brand text styles.

3.

URL Hyperlink. This is the link that is opened when the viewer clicks the button. Depending on your requirements, you can:
a. Provide all your viewers with the same URL.
b. Use 1:1 Personalization to direct each viewer to a personalized URL.
c. Use Audience Messaging to direct viewers to a URL, according to the segment to which they belong.

Once your video has views, you can run reports and use the video dashboard to view metrics on how the buttons are performing.

Configuring a Button without Personalization

From the scene line-up, select the scene with the button that you want to configure.

Hover over the button to see the blue placeholder and then click inside the placeholder.

3. In the Button text field (right pane), type the text that you want to display on the button and then click anywhere outside the text field to save.

In the Destination URL field (right pane), type the URL that viewers will be directed to when they click the button.
The protocol (http:// or https://) must be included in the URL for the link to be valid.
▶ To initiate an email after viewers click the button, type mailto:{Recipient address}
For example: mailto:susan.adams@example.com
To initiate a phone call after viewers click the button, type tel:{phone number in digits only, without spaces}
For example: tel:123456789

5.

(Optional) Define how this button is referred to in the dashboard widgets.

Select Same as button text if you want the button name in the dashboard to be the same as the button text in the scene. This is the default option.

Select Custom if you want to give the button a different name in the dashboard.

Configuring a Button with 1:1 Personalization

In the Button text field (right pane), begin by typing the text that you want everyone to see on the button and then click anywhere outside the text field to save.

In the text field, position your cursor where you want to insert the personalized data and then type a left curly bracket.
A drop-down list with all the available data elements is displayed.

Select the appropriate data element and then click anywhere outside the text field to save the selection. In the example below, viewers will see the text See your special offer, followed by their first name.
▶ Only one data element can be added to a button placeholder.
▶ The font size used for the button text depends on the length of your text. The longer the text, the smaller the font size will be, to enable all the text to display on the button.

6.

Type the text that you want to display on the button when data is not available. In the example below: if a viewer's first name is not included in the record, See all our special offers will be displayed.
▶ This text is referred to as default text.

(Optional) You can also personalize the URL using a data element (see steps 4-5 above).
▶ Before adding the data element, type a forward slash /.
▶ In the example below, the data element {Customer ID} represents a subsection in the Skybank website, dedicated to a specific customer. Viewers clicking this link will be directed to their personal account page in the Skybank website.

(Optional) If you have defined a personalized URL, type the URL that you want to direct viewers to if data is not available. In the example below: a viewer whose record does not include {Customer ID} will be directed to a page suitable for all customers.
The protocol (http:// or https://) must be included in the URL for the link to be valid.

(Optional) Define how the buttons you configured are referred to in the dashboard widgets.

Note that there are two buttons that you need to define:
a. The button with the data element (highlighted in yellow in the example below). The reporting options for this button appear at the bottom of the page.

b. The button that is displayed when data is not available (highlighted in pink in the example below). The reporting options for this button appear right beneath the button text.

For each button:
Select Same as button text if you want the button name in the dashboard to be the same as the button text in the scene. This is the default option.
Note that if you select this option for the button with the data element, the data element will be included in the button name. In the example below, the button name in the dashboard will be See your special offer, First Name

Select Custom if you want to give the button a different name in the dashboard.

In the right pane, toggle the switch to Button by Audience.

Click the down arrow to open the Set message by drop-down list and then select the data element by which you want to segment your viewers.
▶ In the example below, viewers are segmented according to their age.

Click the down arrow to open the Audience drop-down list and then select the relevant segment.
▶ In the example below, Boomer represents viewers who are 57-75 years old (Baby Boomers).

Type the text that you want to display on the button for this viewer segment and then click anywhere outside the text field to save.

(Optional) You can also personalize the URL using a data element. See Configuring a Button with 1:1 Personalization (steps 8.a.-8.b.) to learn how.
▶ In the example below, the data element {Customer ID} represents a subsection in the Skybank website, dedicated to a specific customer. A viewer in the Boomer segment clicking this link will be directed to a personalized loan offer.

Click + Variation to configure a button for another viewer segment.

Repeat steps 7-11 to configure the button text, URL, and reporting option for the additional segment. See Additional Notes (#4) for more information regarding the reporting option.

Create additional variations, as required.

In When audience is not defined show, configure the button that will be included in the scene when the following occur:
● A viewer does not belong to any of the segments in the variations that you defined.
● Data is not available for viewer personalization in a specific segment. Note that when personalization is included, the viewer must belong to the selected segment and have data for the required element in order to see the button.

In the example below:
A button displaying Unbeatable loans made easy! (linking to https://skybank.com/alloffers) will be included in the scene when:
● The viewer does not belong to either the Boomer or Gen-Z segment.
● A viewer's record in the Boomer segment does not include a first name.

Additional Notes

1.

You can remove a button completely from a scene by deleting all the button text in the placeholder.

When Configuring a Button with Audience Messaging:
You can remove a button for a specific segment by selecting the segment and then leaving the Button text field empty.

When Configuring a Button with Audience Messaging:
The button you configure can be used for more than one segment. In such a case, the button text and URL will apply if the viewer belongs to any of the segments that have been selected. In the example below, the button text and URL will be active for viewers that belong to either the Boomer or Senior segment.

When Configuring a Button with Audience Messaging:
If the same button text is used for reporting for more than one variation, the metrics of all the buttons will be aggregated into one entity in the dashboard.
In the example below: as both variations have the same button text that will be used for reporting, the button metrics will be aggregated into one entity.

To delete a variation, click the X in the relevant variation pane.
