Adding a media asset to a placeholder is a simple drag-and-drop action, whether the media asset is located in the Media Library or in your computer.
Inside the Studio, there are several ways to add a media asset. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with all the methods and then use the one that best suits your needs.

The instructions for all three methods pertain to both adding a media asset to an empty placeholder and replacing an existing media asset with a different one.
Adding a Media Asset Directly to a Placeholder
1. | In the Media Library, locate the media asset that you want to add. |
2. | (Optional) Before selecting the media asset, preview the asset to make sure that it's what you want to use in the scene. |
3. | Select the media asset and drag it to the placeholder. ▶ As you drag the media asset, the placeholder is highlighted, guiding you to where you need to place the media asset. |
4. | After the media asset is positioned in the placeholder, release the mouse to drop the media asset. |
The media asset is added to the placeholder. ▶ If you added the media asset from Stock, the asset is also added automatically to Your Media. |

Adding a Media Asset Using the Media Dialog Window
1. | Select the placeholder to which you want to add a media asset. |
2. | On the toolbar, click the Edit media icon. |
3. | Select the media asset and drag it to the placeholder thumbnail. ▶ As you drag the media asset, the thumbnail is highlighted, guiding you to where you need to place the media asset. |
4. | After the media asset is positioned on the thumbnail, release the mouse to drop the media asset. |
5. | Click anywhere outside the Media dialog window to close the window. |
The media asset is added to the placeholder. ▶ If you added the media asset from Stock, the asset is also added automatically to Your Media. |

Adding a Media Asset from Your Computer
1. | From the scene line-up, select the scene to which you want to add a media asset. ▶ The scene needs to include at least one media placeholder. |
2. | From the computer directory, drag the media asset to the relevant placeholder. ▶ As you drag the media asset, the placeholder is highlighted, guiding you to where you need to place the media asset. ▶ At the bottom left, a message displays the supported file formats and size limits. |
3. | After the media asset is positioned on the placeholder, release the mouse to drop the media asset. |
The media asset is added to the placeholder. | |
The media asset is also added to Your Media, ready for future use. | |
Previewing a Media Asset
1. | On the media asset thumbnail, click the Preview icon. ▶ You can also double-click the thumbnail. |
A preview of the media asset is displayed. | |
2. | (Optional) Once you are in preview mode, use the side arrows to scroll through the media assets in the order that they appear. ▶ If the media asset is video footage, it can also be played. |
