Overview
With the SundaySky platform, you can personalize a video by including a media asset (image or video footage) that is unique to each viewer. The data regarding what to display for each viewer is passed to SundaySky via a data feed.
The following are use case examples for this type of personalization:
● | Creating a video for a sales prospect with their image in the opening scene. |
● | Creating a video for a prospective customer with an image of a product that they showed interest in. |
The personalization process includes three major steps, to be done in sequential order:
1. | All the media assets that you want to use in the video need to be hosted on a website, each with its own URL. This is the URL that will be included in each viewer's record and to which you will map the data field (step 2 below). |
2. | Create a data field that represents the media asset that you want to personalize. In general, you need to set up a data library that has all the data fields that you'll use for personalizing content. In the case of media assets, the data field that you create needs to be mapped to the source field in your company records that holds the URL of the media asset. The following Help Center articles can guide you in this step: ● To understand the general background, see Video Personalization—How It Works. ● To learn how to set up the data library and add data fields, see Creating a New Data Library. |
3. | Configure the content in the video scenes. The guidelines in this article address this step. |
Configuring the Media Content
1. | Select the media placeholder that you want to personalize. |
2. | On the toolbar, click the Edit media icon. |
3. | Select From data feed. |
4. | Click the down arrow to open the data field drop-down list. |
5. | From the drop-down list, select the data field that is mapped to the URL of the unique media asset that you want to display for each viewer. A data field will only appear in this list if it was created in the data library, as described in step 2. ▶ In the example below, the data field Product image is mapped to the image URL that is unique for each viewer. |
6. | Click the checkerboard thumbnail to add a fallback media asset. ▶ The fallback asset is displayed when the data record of a specific viewer does not contain a media URL. |
7. | Select a media asset from the Media library or upload an asset from your computer. |
8. | Click anywhere outside the Media dialog window to close the window. |
In the scene, the default media asset is displayed in the placeholder. An icon is added to the media placeholder and to the scene thumbnail in the line-up to indicate that personalization has been added.
