Overview

Importing a scene allows you to reuse a scene you've already created instead of rebuilding it from scratch — saving time and ensuring consistency across your videos. Using this feature, you can import a scene from one video into another.

If your organization uses Amplify, you can also:

  • Import a scene from a template into another template
  • Import a scene from a template into a video
  • Import a scene from a video into a template

Scenes from archived videos can also be imported, making it easy to repurpose past content for new projects.

When you import a scene, it automatically uses the design settings of the video you're importing it into. The aspect ratio, brand, theme, and AI voice defined in the destination video are applied to the imported scene, ensuring the scene aligns seamlessly with your current video.

In some cases, the scene you're importing may use different settings than the destination video. For example, the source scene and destination video may use different languages, data libraries, assets, templates, or avatar settings. When this happens, a message is displayed so you can review what needs to change and choose how to continue.

Things to know before importing

Importing a scene is powerful, but some scenes may need to be adapted before they can be reused in another video or template. If the scene you're importing does not fully match the destination video, you may see one or more options such as:

  • Cancel — Close the message without importing the scene.
  • Import without personalization — Import the scene but remove personalization that cannot be used in the destination video.
  • Import and apply changes — Import the scene and apply the required changes, such as translating the scene, connecting or remapping data fields, removing unsupported avatars, or resolving asset or template compatibility issues.

If more than one issue is found, the issues are grouped together in a single message so you can review them before deciding how to proceed.

1. Languages: If the source scene and destination video use different source languages or additional languages, a message is displayed before import. You may be able to import the scene and apply changes so the scene is translated according to the languages in the destination video. After importing, review the narration and on-screen text to make sure the translated content is correct.

2. Personalization and data libraries: A personalized scene uses data fields from a data library or input fields from an Amplify template. If the destination video does not use a data library, you may be able to connect it to the source video's data library to keep personalization. If the source and destination use different data libraries, you may be able to remap fields from the source data library to the destination data library. If fields cannot be remapped, you may need to import the scene without personalization or choose a different scene.
3. Personalized video scenes and Amplify templates: A personalized video scene using data fields may not be available for import into an Amplify template.
4. Personalized Amplify scenes: A personalized scene from an Amplify template using input fields may not be available for import into another Amplify template or into a video.
5. Custom scenes: A custom scene can only be imported into a video that uses one of the following themes: Modern, Waves, or Minimal. If needed, switch the destination video's theme before importing the scene.
6. Expired media assets: If a scene includes one or more expired media assets, the import flow displays a message. When possible, the issue is handled during import. If the scene cannot be imported as-is, update or remove the expired asset before importing.
7. Avatars: Some avatar scenes may not be supported in the destination video. For example, avatars may not be supported in some multilingual videos. In these cases, you may be able to import the scene and apply changes. If the avatar is not supported, it is removed from the imported scene.
8. Template-to-video mismatches: If a scene from a template does not fully match the destination video, the import flow displays a message and explains how the scene will be adjusted.

Some scenes may still be blocked if they cannot be safely adapted for the destination video or template.

5.

Use the following tips to locate the relevant scene:

  • At the top of the page, select either Video Library or Amplify Template Library (if available) to refine your search.
  • Use the search bar in the upper-right corner to search for a scene, video, template, or folder by name.
  • If you locate a folder, video, or template, click through until you reach the individual scenes.

Scene results display the following components:

a.  Folder path — Displays the location of the video within the library.
b. Adjustment notice — Indicates which elements in the imported scene will be updated to match the destination video (for example: brand, theme, and voice).
c. Scene details — Shows the scene number, scene name, and narration. Hovering over the narration displays the full text, which can help determine whether the scene is the correct one to import.
d. Preview — Lets you preview the scene before importing it.
e. Caution icon — Appears beneath scenes that need attention before import or cannot be imported due to one of the limitations described above. Hovering over the icon details the specific limitation or required adjustment.

6. Optional: Preview the scene before importing it. To preview a scene, hover over the scene thumbnail and click the preview button. After reviewing the preview, return to the import flow and decide whether to import the scene.
7. Hover over the thumbnail of the scene you want to import, and then click + Import scene.
▶ From the same video, multiple scenes can be imported one after another.
▶ While the Import scene page remains open, scenes can also be imported from additional videos by navigating to them.

8. If a message is displayed, review the information and choose how to continue. Depending on the issue, you may be able to cancel, import without personalization, or import and apply the required changes.
9. After importing the desired scenes, click Done in the bottom-right corner of the page.
The imported scene is added to the video and appears in the scene line-up.

If the import requires changes, the action may continue in the background. A confirmation message is displayed when the import is complete.

Searching for a Scene

When importing a scene, you can search for it within videos or, if your organization uses Amplify, within templates as well. The search experience is similar to the one in the Video Library, with one key difference: in addition to locating videos, templates, or folders, you can also search for individual scenes.
To learn more about basic search functionality, see Searching in SundaySky.

Because scenes are searchable by name, assigning clear and meaningful names when creating them makes it much easier to locate the right scene later.

1. In the search bar in the upper-right corner of the page, type the name of the scene you want to import.

As you type in the search bar, matching results appear in a list. Results are grouped by category — scenes, folders, videos, or templates — and only categories with matching results are displayed.

2. Select the relevant result from the list.
▶ In the example below, a scene is selected from the results list and displayed on the page. If a video, template, or folder is selected instead, you'll need to open it and navigate to the specific scene you want to use.
