Overview
When working on your narration, you may encounter words that are not pronounced correctly by the AI voice. Many times, these will be brand names, product names, acronyms, or words in English with a foreign origin. So that the word will be pronounced correctly, you can add a phonetic spelling for the word in the Pronunciation Library. Using the Pronunciation Library gives you three benefits:
1. | The word is pronounced correctly in the video. |
2. | The word is displayed correctly (and not phonetically) in the closed captioning, so that viewers can follow the captions easily and without confusion. |
3. |
A pronunciation, added once to the library, is used for all the occurrences of the same word in the video. There is no need to customize each word individually. |
Using the Pronunciation Library is also handy when you want to narrate a different variation of a word.
For example:
The narration heard is: Welcome to our flagship branch in New York
while the closed captioning displays Welcome to our flagship branch in NY
In this example, New York is a pronunciation of NY.
Note:
The Pronunciation Library is on the account level, meaning that the entries in the Pronunciation Library apply to all the videos in your account.

Notes
1. | If a word is pronounced as expected with its original spelling, we recommend not adding a pronunciation entry. |
2. | If you make changes to the Pronunciation Library that are relevant to videos that have been approved, all those videos will need to be re-approved in order for the pronunciation changes to take effect. Changes made to the Pronunciation Library are applied immediately to videos that are in draft status. |
3. | The word added to the Pronunciation Library must exactly match the word in the narration placeholder to ensure the correct pronunciation. |
4. | The entries in the Pronunciation Library are also applied when the narration is personalized with a personalization token or with audience messaging. |
