Overview

By default, the narration written for a scene is read at a normal speed of 1x.

You may want to adjust the pace of the narration, either slowing it down or speeding it up, for a variety of reasons. Here are some scenarios where you may want to adjust the narration speed:

  • The normal speaking pace of the AI voice or avatar you selected is slower or faster than expected. In such a case, you may want to adjust the speed accordingly.
  • The video content is complex or very technical. Slowing down the narration pace gives the audience time to absorb and understand the information.
  • The video is being watched by non-native speakers of the video's language. Slowing down the narration pace can help the audience better absorb the information.
  • You are using a combination of different AI voices or avatars to narrate a single video. Since each voice may have a different narration pace, you may need to slow some down while speeding others up. This way, you can equalize the narration pace across the entire video.

Key Points

Here are the key points to know about setting the narration speed:

1. Changing the narration speed can shorten or lengthen the duration of a scene. To learn more regarding the scene length, see What Determines the Length of a Scene? and Setting a Minimum Duration for a Scene.
2. The narration speed you select is applied to all the text in the placeholder and cannot be applied to specific words or phrases.
3. As with any edit, changing the narration speed in an approved video requires the video to be re-approved.
4. If an avatar has been animated, changing the narration speed will require reanimating the avatar, which incurs animation credits.
5. When personalizing a narration with Message by Audience, each variation can have a different narration speed.
